Prepare For Your Remodel Project

Before any installation can begin the old countertops must be removed if they exist, if we are to remove the old tops please be sure to have all the tops cleared off before we arrive. The main water shut off and circuit breakers should be located and accessible before demolition begins.

Remove the drawers and pack up the contents of the base cabinets before the installation date; this will prevent the contents of your base cabinets from getting dirty from the tear out debris and the dust. Don’t forget to label the storage boxes well. This will make the unpacking process a lot easier. Remove any fragile items off walls, tables, and shelves and move them out of the construction area.

The sink will have to be disconnected and removed as well as the cooktop and any other appliances. If you are having a new sink installed some of the existing pipes may need to be replaced or re-fit to the new sink configuration.

If the customer decides to do their own demolition of their existing countertops it must be done before our installers arrive.

If we are to install an undermount sink than we must have both the sink and the faucet on site at time of installation. This is true also for any other items to have holes cut for (ie...soap or water dispensers).

Plan a location outside of the area where the remodeling is being done to act as your temporary kitchen.

You maybe able to temporarily move everything you need...except the kitchen sink! Consider where your "water source" will be in relation to your temporary kitchen. Tell the kids you’re picnicking...use paper plates & napkins as well as disposable silverware.

Keep essential items handy: basic food that can be microwaved, condiments, cereal, microwave-safe dishes and utensils, dishcloths, dishwasher soap, paper plates and cups, coffee, coffee pot and sugar/creamer, paper towels, napkins, and garbage bags.

Coffee Maker (don’t forget to put the filters and coffee close at hand too!)

Don’t forget about Fido & Kitty! If there isn’t an area in your home to keep them safely away from the construction, especially during certain phases - it maybe a perfect time to treat your pet to a vacation at the kennel or a play date at a friend’s home.

Dust...there’s just no way to avoid it! We do take precautions for dust control. However none of these precautions are 100% effective. You may want to take additional precautions such as:

Turn off HVAC system to prevent dust from being circulated throughout your home.
Take down and remove any plants, drapes or any other decorations from the construction area. Drape or cover furniture, fish tanks or electrical equipment in close proximity to the work. Cover flooring and doorways to help prevent dust and damage from the dust and debris.

Relax and rely on your kitchen designer. There will be a beautiful kitchen when all the dust is gone!!
